Our Guiding Principles

Not all financial professionals are snakes in the grass. We are out to prove it.

After all, our business is all about trust. And to ensure that we earn the trust of clients, co-workers, and society, we have laid out Moneyskope's 10 guiding principles, which serve as a framework for us to follow day in and day out. All of the principles are related yet distinct, and hold us accountable to everyone we interact with.

Be fair

Regardless of who’s sitting at the other side of the table, we strive to treat all people equally and shy away from providing preferential treatment. Another angle of being fair is with respect to information. We encourage hearing opposing viewpoints in order to constantly challenge our thinking. And if our thinking changes as a result of compelling information, we won’t be afraid to change our position.

Be honest

Honesty is the best policy. Maybe it’s having a difficult conversation with a client or maybe it’s providing constructive feedback to a co-worker. In both scenarios, being up front and honest can strengthen the trust between parties and lead to better outcomes. Being honest also means not stretching the truth beyond reasonable bounds. If we don’t know, we’ll be the first to admit it.

Be transparent

Optimal decisions arise when we know the full picture. Relationships flourish when all parties know each other’s motivations, thoughts, and feelings. Whether clients have questions about our guidance or co-workers want to know the reason behind conducted research by a peer, being fully open enables us to have a strong dialogue so that everyone’s on the same page.

Be kind

We aim to create an optimistic and supportive environment. We feel that better relationships and results come from spreading positive energy. Essentially, don't be an a**hole.

Be informed

Our core responsibility is to promote the financial well-being of our clients. To that end, we strive to stay informed on developments within the industry such that we can offer the best guidance possible. Furthermore, staying informed also allows our money coaches to grow by learning from one another, which enables us to provide a consistent offer across our client base.

Be present

For every interaction, we believe in actively listening and removing distractions. That means being focused on what the other party is saying, not rushing to jump into the conversation, and providing thoughtful responses. As a result of being present, conversations will be more productive, guidance will be optimized, and relationships will grow.

Be a friend

Being a friend means being there in times of need, lending a helping hand, and being a trusted voice. To be the best money coaches, co-workers, and people, we think it’s important to go beyond the surface and get to know others in a more meaningful way.

Be ethical

At Moneyskope, we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards. That means putting clients first, eliminating conflicts of interest, and doing what’s best for our employees and society at large.

Be empathetic

We do our best to understand the unique position of clients, co-workers, and others. Only by putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes can we offer the requisite comfort and support necessary to achieve the goals of everyone involved.

Be yourself

At other organizations, it’s all too easy to become a corporate zombie, where employees start saying things like “meeting cadence” instead of “meeting frequency”. Essentially, they have lost their personality for the sake of fitting in. At Moneyskope, we encourage everybody to be themselves. That way, everybody feels more comfortable.
